Throughout college and into my young adult life, I always rented houses with friends. I wasn’t accustomed to the hefty monthly payment of a one-bedroom apartment, so the idea of paying a mortgage on my own every month was daunting and unfamiliar. That’s why when I bought my first house, I had no intention of paying it alone. Here’s my story of how “house hacking” allowed me to transition from renter to homeowner at 22 years old.
